Here is a design for a client who desires food for both home and wildlife, while prioritizing gathering space amongst the trees.
It still amazes me how much food and beauty can fit in a very small space. This small urban back yard is packed with grapes, mulberries, hardy pomegranate, raspberries, blueberries, medicinal herbs, flowers, and all the kale you can eat.
This is a great example of a co-installation. They wanted to transform their suburban grass front lawn into a food and pollinator paradise which still brought big curb appeal. We worked together on the design, and then they completed 75% of the install. We went on site once a month for a 6 months, and gave them “homework”. It came out fabulous and now they have an even deeper connection with their garden. the neighbors are amazed!
We design landscapes that strengthen the connections between people, wildlife, and our food systems. Our approach creates harvests that nourish both body and senses — while simultaneously crafting spaces that promote mindfulness and deepen your connection to the natural world. Every design is rooted in principles that support the health of native ecosystems. Whether through our own installation services or with the help of trusted permaculture professionals, we’re here to bring your vision to life. Based in the Northeast U.S., we’re passionate about creating sustainable, thriving environments for you and future generations.
This install on Little Squam Lake brings forth beauty, harvest, and easy. Some features are: Hügelkultur blueberry mounds intercropped with strawberry, beans, and squash, Apple trees with companion plants to support their best health and soil, A raised garden bed and herb spiral for annual vegetables, Thornless blackberries and thornless raspberries, and last but not least many supporting flowers for pollination and beauty from lilac to rose, to echinacea and much more.
How it works
1) Discovery Call: A quick call to determine if we are aligned and a good fit to work together.
2) On Site Consult: We learn all about what you are desiring and give real time practical feedback, if it seems like a design is coming we will take measurements.
3) Design: We go the drawing board and bring forth a design for your space.
4) Install: From here we start the installation process, if clients desire to do a lot of the install they are welcome and we will support them, if they would like us to do the full install we are happy to do so.
5) Stewardship: Our installs are designed to need minimal maintenance but there are still things that need to happen, either we leave you with all you need to know, or our team can return a few times a year for support
